The Man She Sees

She comes to me and the world around me softens—I am safe when I can be found within her loving hands of mercy.

She says my name and something inside me steadies, her voice remembers a version of me that I have forgot.

She sees a strength where I see my struggle, she sees talent where I see failure, sees knows the ministry that leads me to the long road ahead and when I am weary her faith in me becomes my rest.

She keeps me in a warm, quiet space where doubt loosens its grip and I can breathe again.

In her arms, I feel the man she sees, the one I can become, the one she’s always known, the one she’s always loved.

Every day I will rise a little closer, closer to the man she already sees.
